Medications to be Aware of

Medications to avoid before Plastic Surgery

Certain over the counter medications can effect the ability of the body to form blood clots and stop bleeding. The following list is some of over the counter medications which are known to cause an increase in bleeding tendencies and should be avoided two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. This is not a comprehensive list as most over the counter medications have not been tested for their effects on bleeding or photosensitivity. If you have any questions about medications you are taking, please talk with Dr. Verret. In the end, it is safer to avoid the medication if at all possible for two weeks before and two weeks after surgery. Please talk with Dr. Verret about any prescription medications you are taking before discontinuing them. You may need to also talk with the physician who prescribed the mediation before you stop it.
